Martha Ann Clark

Martha Ann Downs Clark, 87, of Saint Francis, Kentucky passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 22, 2026. She was born on November 8, 1938 in Balltown, Kentucky.

Martha was known to be a prayer warrior, and absolutely adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also a fantastic cook, creating meals for her family was a joy. Even wrangling a few rattlesnakes in her day. Most of all, she found enjoyment in feeding and watching her birds.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Downs; husband, William “Bill” Clark; and siblings, Regina Roberts, Joseph Downs, and Rita Riordan.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Nadine Thompson (John), Colleen Spalding (Joe), Paulette Clark, Rebecca Greenwell (Joey), June Hartman (Kevin), Mark Clark (Lou Ann), and Lee Clark (Debbie); 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 10am at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Father Richard Goodin officiating. Interment will follow in Saint Catherine Cemetery in New Haven.

Visitation is 4-8pm on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, KY, with a prayer service at 7pm by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Pallbearers are grandsons: Logan Clark, Frank Spalding, Travis Thompson, Tyler Clark, Kyle Clark, Ryan Clark, and Clark Spalding.
