Obituary

Martha Ann Elder, age 80 of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014 at her son's home in Lebanon.

She was born November 4, 1933 in Marion County. She was a retired Adult Education Teacher with the Marion County Board of Education. She began her career employed by the Marion County Public Library and was affectionately known across Marion County as "The Bookmobile Lady".

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Arthur Elder, Jr., her parents, Frederick Leonard and Anne Melvina Raley Wright, one infant daughter, Martha Lynn Elder, five sisters, Rosemary Wright, Minnie Ida Mudd, Anne Votaw, Pauline Clay Wright, Kathleen Marie Wright and one brother, Freddy Wright.

Survivors include four daughters, Ella Ann Spears (Joe) of Lexington, Peggy Durbin (Jamie) of Wilmore, Linda Longoria (Noe) of Nicholasville and Johnna Sutton (Michael) of Versailles, two sons, John Arthur Elder III (Nancy) of Lebanon and Chris L. Elder (Andrea) of Lexington, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, one brother, Joseph A. Wright (Bettye)of Louisville and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Wright of Lebanon.

Cremation was chosen. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday, May 2, 2014 at Saint Charles Catholic Church, 675 Highway 327, Lebanon, followed by committal in the church cemetery. Rev. Tom Clark and Rev. James W. Graf will concelebrate.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Urnbearers are her nephews, David Mudd, Bernard Mudd Jr., Gary Mudd, Kevin Mudd, Lynn Wright, Jimmy Wright and Todd Votaw.
