Mary Theresa Osborne Ballard, 89, longtime resident of Nelson County, near Holy Cross, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 6, 2008, at Hospice & Pallative Care of Louisville's In-Patient Unit at Norton Medical Pavilion.

Mrs. Ballard was born November 22, 1918 in Washington County, Kentucky, near Maker's Mark Distillery, to the late Henry Parker Osborne and Mary Frances Della (Mudd) Osborne. She was a 1937 graduate of Saint Augustine High School at Lebanon, Kentucky and a long time member of Holy Cross Church at Holy Cross, KY. Mrs. Ballard was bookkeeper for her husband's farming and lumber business for over thirty years.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Fabian Paschal Ballard, in 1988, and by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Ballard, in 1962.

Mrs. Ballard is survived by her eleven children: J. Charles Ballard (Pat), Louisville, Margaret Futrell (Roger), Frankfort, Bernadette Stansbury (Charles), Morehead, Joann Hawkins (Gary), Dallas, TX, Fabian Ballard (Rose Mary), Loretto, Lawrence Ballard (Patty), Bardstown, Angela Cox (Joe), Sugar Land, TX, Rose Mary Houck, Bloomfield, Pauline Blanford (Michael), Waverly, OH, Ann Marie Isaacs (Tim), Munfordville, & Elizabeth Owens (Greg), Frankfort; twenty-nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Her funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holy Cross, Kentucky, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11:00 am to 9:00 PM at Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto, Kentucky.
