Obituary

Mary Stella Boone, 105, of Life Care Center, Bardstown, KY entered her heavenly reward on March 13, 2011.
Born in 1905 in Boston, KY, she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Brady Davis. Her early life was lived in her beloved New Hope, KY. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church all her young life. After graduation Stella accepted a position at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville and for three years rode the train to and from Louisville each weekend. It was on one of those trips she met her future husband, Miles Nicolas Boone. They married on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1928. After 61 happy years Nick expired in 1990.
Survivors include her five sons to cherish her memory; Harold, New Haven, Marvin (Pat) Bardstown, Charles (Shirley) Fern Creek, Nick (Lynn) Louisville, Stephen (Martha) Louisville. Her four daughters: Rose Goodin, Lexington, Shirl Boone Rosen, Bardstown, Jeanette Quigley (Michael) Bardstown and Mary Cecilia Boone (Bob) Howardstown; her beloved sister, Marie Davis, 103, Bardstown, 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Stella is remembered as an enthusiastic promoter of the Catholic faith. She was president of the Christian Mother's Association, an active member of the Confraternity of Catholic Mothers and a member of the Legion of Mary. She let group recitation of the daily rosary at Nazareth Village for twenty years. She devoted her time to making blankets and quilts for a mission church in the Appalachian mountains for 20 years, totaling about 600 quilts and blankets. She was the oldest quilter in Nelson County. Stella reveled with delight when her granddaughter, Charlotte, matched her numbers, crocheting colorful baby blankets to go with her quilts.
Stella is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas, her parents, John and Elizabeth Davis, sisters Clara Craven, Mayme Nalley, brothers Joseph and John Davis and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial visitation will be Noon till 8 PM Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, KY, with prayer service at 7 PM.
Her Funeral Mass celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in her beloved St. Vincent de Paul Church, New Hope, KY, with Rev. Chris Allegra and Rev. Ken Fortener as celebrants.
Burial will follow in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, New Hope, KY.
