Mary Evelyn Mattingly, age 91 of New Hope, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
She was born November 7, 1925 in Louisville. She was a very religious woman who loved to embroider and to be outside working in her flower beds and vegetable garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oldren Aloysious Mattingly (1994); her parents, Peter Lee and Mary Frances Cissell Mattingly; her stepfather, Hal Hardy, infant daughter, Mary Jean Mattingly; two sons, William Albert Mattingly and infant Louis Bertrand Mattingly; one sister, Thelma Raley; , one brother, Reuben Mattingly; one grandson, Kevin Mattingly and two granddaughters, Jennifer Ulrich and infant Anne Michelle Mattingly; one infant great-granddaughter, Olivia Paige Mattingly.
Survivors include three daughters, Irene Carter (Harold Dunn) and Doris Ulrich (Bobby) all of Bardstown and Linda Mattingly of New Hope; one son, Larry Mattingly (Fonda) of Marion; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a number of step-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Mattingly (Louise) of New Hope and Irvin Mattingly (Linda) of Lebanon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Saint Vincent de Paul Church, 104 Church Street, New Hope. Rev. Kenneth Fortener will preside. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 PM by Deacon Joe Dant.
Pallbearers are Matthew Mattingly, Mark Robey, Pat Ulrich, Cody Ulrich, Derek Miles, Corey Miles.
