Mary Hazel Hill Thompson, 93, Loretto, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary in Nerinx. Born January 23, 1918 in Washington County, Hazel was a retired employee of Maker's Mark Distillery.
She is preceeded in death by: her husband, Leroy Thompson; parents, Leo and Bertha Hill, a daughter, Judy Thompson Carrico; a granddaughter, Donna Thompson Walls; and two sisters Benita Nally and Emily Osbourne.
Survivors include: three sons, Donnie (Janice) Thompson of Loretto, David (Donna) Thompson of Bardstown, and Charles (Thelma) Thompson of Holy Cross; four daughters, Jean (Fred) Hornback of Hodgenville, , Cathy (Roy) Taylor of Louisville, Joy (Donnie) Medley and Debbie (Clifton) Wright, both of Loretto; three sisters; Clara Mae Blandford and Lucille Bishop of Springfield, and Ethel Kinips of Huntington, West Virginia; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM March 18, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with burial at the church cemetery. Rev Joseph R. Hemmerle will officiate.
Visiting will be 3-8 PM Thursday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, KY with a prayer service at 6 PM.
Pallbearers are grandsons: Mark Thompson, Patrick Carrico, Tommy Carrico, Joe Hornback, Dean Hornback, Michael Hornback, Brian Medley, Billy Taylor & Ross Wright.
