Mary Margaret Spalding, age 83, formerly of Loretto, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Colonial Health and Rehab Center in Bardstown.
She was born October 12, 1930 in Fredericktown. She was a retired employee of the Loretto Motherhouse and member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Manton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edward and Cecelia Mudd Yates; one granddaughter, Leigh Ann Blandford; one sister, Hallie Elizabeth Yates and eight brothers, Herman, William Ernest, Joseph Russell, Joseph Woodrow, Edward Norris, Joseph Durbin, John Robert and Joseph James Yates.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Thomas Leon "Tommy" Spalding, Sr. of Bardstown, one daughter, Dorothy Ann Blandford (Roy) of Springfield; two sons, Thomas Leon "Pete" Spalding, Jr. of Georgetown and Joseph Ronnie Spalding (Angie) of Bardstown; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Louise Brown (Tom) of Mount Washington and Mary Helen Smith of Springfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 6684 Cissellville Road, Springfield, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Matthew Hardesty will be the celebrant.
Visitation is 3-8 Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM.
