Mary Monica Ballard, age 88 of the Loretto Motherhouse, passed away there Sunday, January 28, 2018.

She was born October 18, 1929 in Loretto to the late Charles Edward and Marie Aline Mattingly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Jerome Ballard (1980); four sisters, Marjorie Ballard, Aline Vittitow, Evelyn Fenwick and Dolores Blady; three brothers, Jim Ed Mattingly, Charles Thomas Mattingly and Joseph David Mattingly, Sr.; one son-in-law, Wayne Miles; one granddaughter, Shannon Ballard Pinkston; one grandson, Joseph Patrick Corbett; one grandson-in-law, Jack Brahm and one great granddaughter, Madeline Grace Keene.

Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Corbett (Bill) and Denise Miles all of Loretto and Cindy Osborne (Dickie) of Lebanon; two sons, Jerry Ballard (Bev) of Holy Cross and Robert Ballard of Loretto; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Elaine Reynolds of Louisville, Frances "Borgia" Phillips (George) of Scottdale, Pennsylvania and Diane Devine (Wally) of Willisburg.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate.

Visitation 3-8 PM Monday and 9-11 AM Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Chad Ballard, Darrel Ballard, Scott Byrd, Joe Lawrence Miles, Nicholas Osborne and Jason Ballard.
