Joseph Vernon "Pokey" Rogers, age 73 of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023, at LifePoint Springview Hospital.  He was born August 3, 1950, in Marion County.  He was a farmer and a retired employee of Kentucky Cooperage.  He was a member of Saint Charles Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Joyce Bright Rogers; one grandson, Bradley Lewis; his parents, Harold and Catherine Helen "Cappie" Bland Rogers; one sister, Eva Sue Brussell.

Survivors include three children, Kim Lewis (Tracy Boblitt) of Springfield, Kathy Rogers of Lebanon and Kevin Rogers (Renee) of Gravel Switch; four grandchildren, Brandi Moneypenny (Aaron), Brittany Bartley (Ryan), Brayden Rogers and Gloria Espinosa; four great grandchildren; four siblings, Gloria Purdom of Harrodsburg, Thelma "Tinker" Miles of Loretto, Jimmy Rogers (Faye) of Louisville and George Rogers of Indianapolis, IN; a host of nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Monday, August 28, 2023, at Saint Charles Catholic Church, 675 Hwy 327, Lebanon.  Rev. Scott Wimsett will officiate.  Interment will follow in Saint Joe Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 pm Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Pallbearers are Dale Brussell, Dale Depappa, Bruce Purdom, Aaron Moneypenny, Dallas Hill, Johnny Epps and Tommy Lewis; Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Noah Moneypenny, Corbin Moneypenny and Sage Bartley.
