Obituary

Thomas Raphael "Ray" Ruley, age 73 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington.

He was born November 10, 1940 in the Dant Station community of Marion County. He was a former employee of Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company in Louisville and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Cora Elizabeth Kelty Ruley, one son, Thomas Kevin Ruley and three brothers, Robert Stuart "Cokie" Ruley, Charles Donald "Donnie" Ruley and Joseph Edward "Pete" Ruley.

Survivors include one daughter, Jeanie Ruley of New Haven, one son, Jeff Ruley of Clarksville, Indiana, three grandchildren, Justin Scott Ruley, Jessica Ruley and Debbie Williams, seven great-grandchildren, three sisters, Betty O'Flynn (Pat) of Louisville, Linda Walls (Tony) and Phyllis Williams (Rich) all of Mount Washington, five brothers, Carl Ruley (Shirley) of Bardstown, Larry Cecil (Janet), Dean Cecil (Brenda)and Marvin Cecil all of Dant Station, Wayne Cecil (Nancy) of Chattanooga, Tennessee and his former wife and best friend, Doris Waltz of Clarksville, Indiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday, June 2, 2014 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Saint Francis, with Rev. Joe Hall as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is 3-8 PM Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 6 PM.
