Obituary

Joseph Robert Nalley, Sr. age 94, of Louisville, entered eternal life on Wednesday, September 9, 2015.


Robert was a native of Saint Francis. He retired from Inland Container Corporation in Louisville, where he was a corrugator operator for 40 years. He was member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church, he loved his religion and professed it daily in prayers. He was a veteran of World War II and a Sargent in the 489th Engineers in European Operations from Africa through Germany in 1943; He served in the Barrage Balloon outfit and earned five battle stars from Africa and Sicily.


He was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend of 68 years, Anna Lelia Lucas Nalley, his parents, Thomas Nalley and Eulalia Isabel Downs; five brothers; one sister; one son, Joseph Robert Nalley, Jr. , two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Haywood (Philip) of Belfry, Denise Thomas (Steve) of Middletown, Sheila Gensheimer (Mark) of Mt. Washington, 11 grandchildren, and 20 Great Grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Saint Bernard Catholic Church, 7500 Tangelo Drive, Louisville, with burial to follow at 1:30 PM at Saint Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Saint Francis, KY. Rev. Robert L. Stuempel will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.


Visitation will be 2-8 PM Friday at Ratterman and Sons – Jeffersontown, 10600 Taylorsville Road, Jeffersontown and after 9 am Saturday at the church.
