Mary Rosella Bickett Battcher

Born June 17, 1928, in Loretto, KY to Martin Eugene Bickett and Mary Rosella Mattingly Thompson, Rosella passed away at her home in Louisville at the age of 96 on October 7, 2024.

Rosella grew up in Loretto, and shortly after the end of WW2, met and married a young returning soldier, Albert Battcher, Jr. Together they lovingly raised eight children, first in Lebanon, KY and later in Louisville.

Rosella is survived by eight children; Susan Karl (Jonathan), Paula (Cliff Brownmiller), Janet, John (Anetta Shaw), Mary Ann Broadstone (Tom), Donald (Valerie), Patricia Edmondson, Martha Greenwell (James); fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Carolyn Morgan; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Albert, beloved husband of 60 years, grandchild Jeri Lynn Bland, son-in-law Michael Dean Edmondson, brothers Paul Thompson, Pat Thompson, Mike Thompson, Eugene Bickett, and sister Martha Jane Woodard.

Visitation will be held Friday October 11 from 3-8 pm at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, with a brief prayer service at 4 pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Martha Catholic Church, Klondike Lane, on Saturday, October 12, at 10 am, with burial at the Lebanon National Cemetery at 12:30 pm on Tuesday October 15.
