Mary Ruby Thomas, age 83, of Loretto, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary.
Ruby was born October 6, 1929 in Holy Cross, KY. She and her husband operated the old Dollar and Variety Store in Loretto and were members of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Preceding her in death are her husband, C.D. "Bee" Thomas, her son, David Thomas, her parents, Emmett and Rose Newton Hutchins and two brothers, Jimmy and Leo Hutchins.
Survivors include three daughters, Michelle Rapier (Terry) and Diane Decker (David) all of Louisville, Mary Ponchio (Carlos) of Miramar, Florida, three sons, Keith Thomas (Lisa) of Crittenden, Kevin Thomas (Marsha) of Lexington and Alan Thomas (Sandy) of Lawrenceburg, 14 grandchildren, Michael (Cynthia), Laura, Jordan (Kelly), Steven, Emily, Tyler, Hannah, Carly, Rachel, Daniel, Terry, Tim, Deanna, and Charli, four great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Christopher, Chad and Millie, three sisters, Ann Leake of Loretto, Rose Covert (Jerry) of Leavenworth, Washington and Nancy Westfall (Maurice) of Nicholasville, two brothers, Arch Hutchins of Loretto and Larry Hutchins (Betty) of Springfield.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 AM Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church followed by interment in the church cemetery. Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant.
Visiting 3-8 PM Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 5 PM.
