Mary Ruth Dant Adams, age 96 of Bardstown, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Landmark of Bardstown nursing home. She was born January 8, 1925 in Saint Francis. She was a former employee of Gethsemane Distillery and member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Bardstown.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lyle Dant (Nov. 21, 1977); her parents, Leo and Mary Elizabeth Mattingly Greenwell; two sisters, Lyla Cahoe and Viola Seward Hagan; four brothers, Joseph Lee Greenwell, William Francis Greenwell, Joseph Earl Greenwell and John Edward Greenwell.

Survivors include two children, Michael Dant of Bardstown and Sarah Lynn Harris of Hodgenville; three grandsons, Joshua, Stephen and Chad Dant; two great grandchildren, Aspin and Emily Moore; one brother, Arthur Greenwell of Lebanon.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, January 29, 2021 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. Her nephew, Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate. Burial will follow in Saint Francis of Assisi Cemetery.

Visitation is 9 am – 11 am Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home.
