Kenneth "Shorty" Gribbins, age 86 of New Hope, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 at his residence.
A native of New Hope, he was born August 23, 1930. He was a lifelong Farmer and member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Gribbins; one son, Clayton Gribbins; two sisters, Wanda Phillips and infant Laura Lou Gribbins; two brothers, J. R. Gribbins and Clinton Gribbins.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Gribbins (Steve) of Bardstown, Patty Hurst (Jerry) of New Haven and Linda Burress (Kendall) of New Hope; three sons, Kenny Gribbins of New Hope, Timmy Gribbins (Betty) of Bardstown and Don Gribbins (Sandy) of New Hope; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 104 Church Street, New Hope. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ken Fortener will preside.
Visitation is 3-8 PM Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM by The Rev. Deacon Jim Cecil.
Pallbearers are Andy Hurst, Kurt Edelen, Todd Gribbins, Tim Gribbins, Don Gribbins and Kendall Burress; Honorary Pallbearers are Allen Lyvers, Ben Hurst, Dane Gribbins and Charles Dant.
