Sister Marie Dolorosa Simones, age 90 of Nerinx, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary.

She was born February 21, 1926 in Dubuque, Iowa to the late Joseph P. and Florence Hagge Simones. She entered religious life in 1948 and received her final vows August 15, 1954. She attended A.B. Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado where she majored in History. She also attended the University of Notre Dame majoring in Elementary Education. Her assignments were in Missouri, Virginia and Colorado. She also taught locally at Saint Augustine School in Lebanon in 1961. She retired to the Loretto Motherhouse in 2009.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Loretto Motherhouse Church. Interment will follow in the Motherhouse Cemetery.

A wake will be held at 6:30 PM Sunday at the Motherhouse.
