Loretto Sister Sylvia Ginder died June 26, 2021, at Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary in Nerinx, KY. She was 90 and near completing her 51 ^st year of her commitment as a Sister of Loretto.  Received into Loretto Aug. 15, 1970,  Sr. Sylvia had joined Loretto after 19 years as a vowed member of the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, IL.  Born Nov. 15, 1930, in Kingfisher, OK, to parents Regina (Kalbhen) and Frank Ginder. Earned a bachelor's in elementary education and a master's in counseling. Fluent in German and widely traveled in Europe. In her early years as a Loretto, Sr. Sylvia taught at Blessed Sacrament School and was secretary at St. James Parish, both in Denver. Also in Denver, she was pastoral assistant, Mercy Hospital, 1976-84; staff chaplain at St. Joseph Hospital, 1987-89; and bereavement assistance coordinator, Horan and McConaty Mortuaries, 1990-96. Sr. Sylvia worked part-time at a variety of ministries from 1998-2003, including working at Creator Mundi religious goods store, Englewood, CO. Though retired in 2006, she continued to volunteer. She was a wonderful pianist/organist and often played at Denver area parishes. Sr. Sylvia moved in 2014 to the Motherhouse Infirmary, where she continued her life of prayer and service in the Community until her death. Funeral Mass celebrated at Loretto Motherhouse July 2, with burial in the Motherhouse cemetery.
