Smith Bernard Fogle, 63, of Holy Cross, passed away Monday, November 25, 2025, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.  Born February 28, 1962, he formerly worked as a Groundskeeper for the Abbey of Gethsemani.  He enjoyed horse racing, and he was an avid fan of the UK Wildcats and the Chicago Bears. He also liked to visit and hike at Gethsemani.

Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Barbara Ann Smith Fogle; an infant brother, Joseph Marion Fogle.

Survivors include five sisters, Yvonne Ballard (Alan) of Forsyth, Georgia, Sheila Beaven (Dick) of Henderson, Colette Hill (Bobby) of Springfield, Madeline Thompson (Gomer) of Saint Francis and Leigh Ann Fogle of Holy Cross; four brothers, Alan Fogle of Edmonton, DeWayne Fogle (Debra) of Eva, Alabama, Brad Fogle (Donna) of Holy Cross and Bart Fogle of Loretto; Many nieces and nephews; special neighbors, Regina and Robbie Lyvers and Tucker and Lucas Lyvers.

Funeral Services for Smith Bernard Fogle will be held at 11 am Monday, December 1, 2025, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto.  Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate.  Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The visitation is 4-8 pm Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home.
