Charles Stanley Reid, age 79 of Holy Cross, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at his home.  He was born October 31, 1944, in Marion County.  He was a Farmer and retired employee of General Electric for 33 years of service.  He served his country in the U. S. Army and fought in Vietnam.  He had a great love of horses.  He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Joseph "Joby" and Mary Josephine "Bert" Corbett Reid; three brothers, Mike, J.P. and Gerald "Buck" Reid; one sister, Sister Clara Reid.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Barbara Graves Reid; two children, Jennifer Bartley (Jamie) and Chris Reid, all of Holy Cross; five grandchildren, Meredith Bartley, McKenna Bartley, Mattie Bartley, Paige Woods, and Dustin Reid; three great grandchildren, Hayden, Braelyn and Quinn; four siblings, Carolyn Maurice Downs of Louisville, Bernadette Bryan of New Haven, Marcella Bartley of Holy Cross and Helman Philip Reid (Darlene) of Lebanon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Monday, January 29, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto.  Rev. Richard Goodin will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

The visitation is 3-8 pm Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. with a prayer service at 7 pm by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Pallbearers are Helman Reid, Jamie Woodrum, Jamie Bartley, Dustin Reid, Paige Woods, and Merideth Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are McKenna Bartley and Mattie Bartley.
