Obituary

In loving memory of Susan Diane "Susie" Thompson, age 75, who departed unexpectedly on December 27, 2023, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. Born on July 2, 1948, in Washington County, Susie was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A dedicated retiree from her role as a cafeteria worker, Susie found joy in her faith as a devoted Catholic. Her passions extended to gardening, cooking, and selflessly caring for generations of her family. Susie's unwavering love touched everyone she encountered, leaving a permanent mark on their hearts. She possessed an extraordinary ability to connect, and after spending time with her, one couldn't help but be overwhelmed with love. She took immense pride in attending every ceremony that celebrated her loved ones, as being surrounded by family was, to her, the most cherished place of all.

Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Thompson, two infant children, Joseph Brian and Mildred Diane Thompson; her parents Robert Abell Mills and Mary Mildred Hughes; three sisters, Della Mae Clark, Lula Belle Buckman, Carolyn Slinker; seven brothers, Infant Ronald, Larry, Bobby, Harold, Ronnie, Freddy, and Billy Mills.

Survivors include her four children, Tracy Delgado (Gil) of South Carolina, Brian Thompson (Jan) of Springfield, Chad Thompson (Sarah) of Ohio and Millie Cheser of Lebanon; 15 grandchildren, Brianna Littman (Mike), Victoria, McKenzie and Madison Browning, Nick Delgado, Alex Delgado, Blake and Ben Thompson, Alyssa, Logan, Lucas and Avery Thompson, Lynette, Isabella, and Keegan Cheser and three great grandchildren, Oliver Gamez-Cheser, Scottie Littman Rhode Delgado. Also, several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday January 2, 2024, at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 108 Main Street, Raywick.  Her nephew, Bishop J. Mark Spalding will officiate.  Cremation will follow the funeral mass.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Thompson to the Alzheimer's Association.

Pallbearers are Madison Browning, Keegan Cheser, Ben, Blake, Logan and Lucas Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Lynette and Isabella Cheser.
