Thomas Leon "Tommy" Spalding, Sr., age 90, formerly of Loretto, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Springfield Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born March 30, 1926 in Washington County. He was a retired employee of Owens-Illinois in Bardstown and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Margaret Yates Spalding; Parents, James Baker and Rosella Mattingly Spalding; three sisters, Emma Milburn, Louise Murphy Yates and Hazel Yates; five brothers, Leo "Soap" Spalding, Theodore Spalding, Joe Spalding, Augustine Spalding and Charles L. "Sonny" Spalding; one granddaughter, Leigh Ann Blandford.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Blandford (Roy) of Springfield; two sons, Pete Spalding of Georgetown and Ronnie Spalding (Angie) of Bardstown; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Rose Miles of Bardstown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 6964 Cissellville Road, Manton, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Matthew T. Hardesty will preside.
Visitation is 3-8 PM Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayers service at 7 PM.
