Obituary

Thomas Viella Mattingly, age 88 of Loretto, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Cedars of Lebanon Nursing Home.

He was born September 6, 1928 in Saint Francis. He was a former truck driver for Alvin Haynes Trucking in Lexington, a former Marion County School Bus Driver and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Owen and Mary Ida Cross Mattingly; one sister, Mildred Helm; three brothers, Marion, Chester and Eugene Mattingly.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Anna Margaret Wethington Mattingly; two daughters, Ida Purdy (Mike) of Lebanon and Lisa Bright (Robert) of Loretto; two sons, Donny Mattingly (Carla) of Lebanon and Jeffrey Mattingly (Sandra) of Loretto; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. Pastor Neal Gordon will officiate. Burial will follow in Saint Francis of Assisi Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is 3-8 PM Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Dylan Bright, Spencer Bright, Keegan Mattingly, Jason Price, Terry Tingle and Gerald Hood.
