Thomas "Freddie" Willett

Thomas “Freddie” Willett, 86, of Bardstown, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Norton Hospital in Louisville with all his family by his side. Born September 19, 1940 in Nelson County, he was a Farmer and retired employee of American Fuji Seal. He was a member of Holy Cross Church.

Freddie was a loving and devoted husband, daddy, brother, and pappaw. He loved being with his family and was always there when they needed him. He worked hard to provide for the people he loved, and he cared for them with a compassion they will never forget. Freddie and his wife, Mary Ann, shared 64 years of marriage and were rarely apart. The love and devotion he showed her throughout their life together meant so much to their family. Freddie’s family will remember how deeply he loved them, how faithfully he cared for them, and how much it meant to know they could always count on him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Willett; his parents, Albert and Gertrude Willett; his brothers, Carter and Duck Willett; and his sister, Martha Smith; his daughter-in-law, Pam Willett; one granddaughter, Tasha Douglas.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Ann Willett; his children, Keith (Rhonda) Willett of Loretto, Denise (David) Douglas and Todd (Lynn Mattingly) Willett, all of Greenbriar; His siblings, Carol (Jimmy) Masterson and Jeannie (Frankie) Nalley, all of Louisville, Nancy (Jim) Walters of Hodgenville, Shirley (Larry) Cooper of Lawrenceburg, Ruthie (Larry) Forgie of Pennsylvania, Johnny (Patsy) Willett, Wayne Willett, and Randy Willett, all of New Haven; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto. Rev. Richard Goodin will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The visitation is 3-8 pm Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Justin Willett, Derek Willett, Eric Willett, Brandon Willett, Dylan Douglas, Trevor Douglas, and Andrew Smith.
