A Bardstown resident, Mr. Thomas (Tommy) Julian Donahue, age 85, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born April 6, 1940, in Nelson County to the late John Francis Donahue and Marie Donahue Greenwell. Tommy was a retired employee of Rainbo Bread Company. He was a member of the Loretto Sportsman Club, Bardstown Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, following local college sports and the Cleveland Indians baseball team.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Donahue. He is survived by three children, Rosemarie Wise (Tim) of Charlestown, Indiana, Thomas Julian Donahue, Jr. (Lee) of Louisville and Todd Donahue (Rebecca) of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Doris Gorman, of Jacksonville FL. Carol Tuttle of Lexington, 2 brothers, Jim Donahue (Betty Sue) of Bardstown, and Larry Donahue (Pam) of Tennessee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto. Very Rev. J. Randall Hubbard, V.F. with officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The visitation is 4-8 pm Friday and 9–9:30 am Saturday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. Prayer services will be held at 7 pm Friday by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Memorials may go to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Masses.
