Michael Troy Abell, age 46 of Raywick, passed through this life Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, holding the hand of his wife, Staci, and his son, Jon-Erik, taking a part of their hearts with him.
He was a courageous fighter who battled the most lethal form of cancer, Glioblastoma Multiforme, for 5 ½ years. In an effort to slay that beast, he was a patient at Duke University for the last year.
Troy was a hard worker all his life, whether on the farm or at Ford Motor Company. He loved his home and living in small town USA. He enjoyed riding horses, ATVs, motorcycles, basically anything he could steer. He loved telling stories and never met a stranger, thus leaving a list of friends too numerous to mention. Now that his life here on Earth has ended, he is in Heaven singing his songs to the four lost babies that were only held by the hearts of him and his wife.
Troy was preceded in death by "Granddaddy" Walter Abell Jr.; George Abell, his uncle; Grandparents, Tom and Marie Baker.
Troy left behind his high school sweetheart, his best friend and his wife, Staci Medley Abell, and his son, his pride, his joy and his friend, Michael Jon-Erik Abell.
Also, surviving are his Grandmother, Juanita Abell; parents, Butch and Nancy Baker; brothers, Danny Ray and Derek; Mother-in-law, Judy Boone Medley; Sister-in-law, Tammy Medley; Brother-in-law, Michael Medley; Aunts and uncle, Linda Abell, Becky Followell (Howard), Karen Tatum, and Wayne Abell; Nieces, Nikki, Trinity, Zoe, Reiss and Caroline; Nephews, Beau, Israel and Luke ; a number of cousins.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday, May 28, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 108 Main Street, Raywick, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jim Graf will officiate.
Visitation will be held 3-8 PM Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM by Deacon Joe Dant.
Pallbearers will be Ron Lucas, Wayne Abell, Phil Lucas, Shane Mattingly, Derek Baker and Lance Abell.
