Virgil Gene Marcy, Jr.

Virgil Gene “Bear” Marcy, Jr., 66, of Loretto, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026, at his home. Born February 25, 1960 in Nelson County, he formerly worked as a heavy equipment operator.

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Gene Marcy, Sr. and one nephew, Thomas Lee Bartley.

Survivors include his mother, Agnes Pearl Marcy of Loretto; one brother, Mearl Marcy (Diane) of Loretto; three sisters, Angela Marcy of Loretto, Pearl Jeffries of Loretto, and Denise Bartley (Philip) of Lebanon; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation was chosen. Inurnment will be held 11 am Saturday, April 4, 2026, in Holy Cross Cemetery. Mattingly Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
