Obituary

Wallace Ballard, age 86, of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at The Village of Lebanon Nursing Center.

He was born April 6, 1926 in Marion County to the late Walter and Lida Smith Ballard. Mr. Ballard was a retired farmer, a member of Saint Augustine Church former member of Holy Cross Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mauritia Hutchins Ballard and two sisters Tillie Beaven and Sue Ritchie.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Carol Ballard and son-in-law, Phil of Prattville, Alabama, Brenda Salyers and son-in-law Bob of Louisville, two sons, Steve Ballard and daughter-in-law Linda of Lebanon and Gerard Ballard and daughter-in-law Judi of Johns Creek, Georgia, five grandchildren, Jude, Paula, Walter and Bridgett Ballard and Jennifer Brown, three great-grandchildren, William, Sophie and Lilly Ballard, four sisters, Ruby Badgett of Canton, GA, Virginia Ballard of Bardstown, Mary Ellen Napier of Mount Washington and Judy Platt of Jeffersonville, IN and two brothers, Howard Ballard and Anthony "Happy" Ballard both of Bardstown.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon on Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Joseph R. Hemmerle will be the celebrant.

Visiting 4-8 PM Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 5 PM.

Memorial donations may go to the Holy Cross Cemetery Trust, c/o Holy Cross Church, PO Box 74, Loretto, KY 40037.

Pallbearers are Anthony Ballard, Ron Platt, Howard Hutchins, Billy Gardner, Robert Lanham and Herbert Hutchins.
