Wanda Sue Akers, age 72, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 16, 1953 in Marion County, Wanda dedicated many years as a server at Mordecai's restaurant in Springfield. She will be fondly remembered as a cherished mother and grandmother, and for her faith as a devoted Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Akers; one grandson, Baily Smith; her parents, William Goebel "Junior" Thomas, Jr. and Mary Appalonia "Appie" Clark Thomas; four siblings, Jean Carol Edelen, Randall L. Williams, Joseph Virgil "J.V." Williams, and Mary Ann Mattingly.

Survivors include one daughter, Renee Whitlock of Springfield; one granddaughter, Lakin Pittman (Joey) of Loretto; two great grandchildren, Avery Bradshaw and Harper Pittman.

A celebration of life for Wanda Sue Akers was held privately on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Mattingly Funeral Home.  Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant officiated.  Cremation followed the service.
