Wanda Jane Thompson Davis

Wanda Jane Thompson Davis, 78, of New Hope, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Baptist Health Hardin. Born on April 11, 1948, in Marion County, Wanda was a former bus driver for the Nelson County School System and also worked at IGA in New Haven. She enjoyed reading and working puzzles, and was a devoted member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where she faithfully coordinated bereavement meals for many years.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Drexal Legore “Duck” Davis; one infant son, George Michael Davis; one grandson, her parents, Thomas Michael and Sophie Mae Battcher Thompson; George Davis Riney; three siblings, Nancy Leigh, Chuck Thompson and Bill Thompson.

Survivors include two sons, Drexel Glenn Davis (Michelle) of New Hope and Scott Davis of Loretto; one daughter, Gloria Presson (Donnie) of Georgetown; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; five sisters, Connie Mattingly (Archie) and Julia Robey (Tom) all of Loretto, Sharon Donahue and Barbara Mudd (Joe) all of Holy Cross, Doris Lamkin of Raywick; five brothers, Tommy Thompson (Mary), Jim Thompson (Madeline), and Mark Thompson, all of Saint Francis, John Thompson and Dan Thompson (Glenna), all of Raywick; many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 104 Church Street, New Hope. Rev. A. Biju Chathely C.M.I. will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The visitation is 1-8 pm Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm by Rev. Deacon Dean R. Giulitto.
