IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wanda Allin
Hagan Spragens
April 14, 1937 – November 21, 2024
Wanda Allin Hagan Spragens was born on April 14, 1937, in Lebanon, Kentucky to Terry Mershon and Wanda Pendleton Campbell Hagan. She passed away at her home on November 21, 2024, after a prolonged period of decline. Her family had gathered around her the last few days of her life.
Wanda met Frank Dennis Spragens in school and, at the suggestion of their band director, Ida Weidemann, accompanied him on piano for his cornet recital. They married while at school in Lexington and had five children— Frank Dennis Spragens, Jr., Lexington; Mark Hagan Spragens (Sherry), Brodhead; Sara Mershon Spragens (Todd Page), Lexington; Ann Terry Spragens; and James Franklin Spragens (Wendy Smith), Lebanon. Susan Bybee Steele (Kevin), Lexington, is a cousin whom Wanda and Frank helped raise and always considered one of their own.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dr. John Campbell Hagan and Terry Mershon Hagan, Jr.; husband; and daughter, Ann Terry. Wanda lived most of her life in Lebanon. Her father was the founder of Hagan's Pharmacy— later Hagan-O'Daniel Pharmacy. Her mother was born in Springfield where she met her husband during his time there working as a druggist on Main Street. After graduating from Lebanon High School, she attended the University of Kentucky. She was raised in United Presbyterian Church, later joining her husband at Lebanon Baptist Church where she was the longtime pianist. In more recent years, she served as the volunteer coordinator for Red Cross blood drives and volunteered in the gift shop at Spring View Hospital. She spent her life caring for her family.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers who showed loving dedication that allowed her to enjoy her last years at home— Michelle Chadwell, Mary Brady, Lois Craig, Pam Mattingly, Mary Mattingly, Molly Wheeler, and Patty Deering.
Visitation will take place November 26 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at United Presbyterian Church (157 E. Main St. Lebanon) with the funeral also at United Presbyterian Church November 27 at 11:00 a.m.
