Walter Leo "Watt" Hamilton, age 77 of Lebanon, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 at Spring View Hospital. He was born November 30, 1945 in Washington County. He was a lifelong farmer. He was a retired employee of General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville with 30 years of service. He served in the Kentucky National Guard in Bardstown. He was a member of Saint Charles Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph T. and Elizabeth Kelly Hamilton; three siblings, James D. "Juicy" Hamilton, Edd Hamilton and infant Joyce Ann Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Joyce Edelen Hamilton; three children, Jill H. Cecil (Scott) and Julie H. Johnson all of Lebanon and Justin L. Hamilton (Sara) of Cold Spring; nine grandchildren, Rowan Cecil, Lyla Johnson, Ben Cecil, Gabe Cecil, Xavier Johnson, Grayson Cecil, Briggs Hamilton, Luther Hamilton and Kit Hamilton; three sisters, Betty Hamilton and Margaret Smith, both of Springfield and Sarah O'Bryan (Larry) of Louisville; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Saint Charles Catholic Church, 675 Highway 327, Lebanon. His cousin, Rev. Mark Hamilton will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 pm Monday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Memorials may go to Saint Charles Cemetery Fund, Marion County Veterans Honor Guard or Saint Augustine School.
Pallbearers are Cody Stumph, John Paul Cecil, Justin Craig, Thad Raley, Jody Raley, Joe T. Hamilton, Cole Cissell and Danny Peterson.
