Willie Dee Walter Smothers

Willie Dee Walter Smothers, 79, of Raywick, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Springfield Nursing and Rehab. Born on November 16, 1946, in Marion County, he spent his life farming and was a Baptist by faith. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and working the land, and he cherished every moment spent with his family

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Margaret Ellen Paris Smothers; one sister, Lou Ellen Smothers, two brothers, Earl Ray and Larry Jesse Smothers.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Smothers and Michelle Smothers, both of Saint Mary’s; four grandchildren, Leland Glasscock, Zach Wise (Autumn Hill), Madison Wise, and Eli Hanlon; two brothers, Cecil Smothers (Debbie) of Paris, Tennessee and Hubert Smothers (Ailene Wise) of Loretto; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Linda Smothers.

Memorial Services for Willie Dee Walter Smothers will be held 2 pm Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Stewart’s Creek Baptist Church, 245 Stewarts Creek Road, Lebanon. Bro. Doug Davis will officiate. Mattingly Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
